This is what happens when you start doodling at an angle..I Started out liking it but now im not thrilled with it and I dont know if i should bother finishing it.. It just might hit the junk pile, which has been growing lately…

One of my favorite things to do last winter was watch this herd of deer. There was maybe a dozen or so, sometimes they were all out at once other times just a few. Or they were all out but half were in the trees while others were out in the open. They got used to me sitting out on the deck watching them as long as I didn’t make any sudden moves. So most times I didn’t even try to take photos, instead just choosing to watch them eat, sleep and play.

Heres a few more drawings, they need cleaned up a bit more and some tweaking but its a start as usual..

I have been practicing on my trees, trying to improve their looks…

So why bother trying….no I didnt buy all these lol! But i did get to many like I do every year..

Here is Fence number 2, Rough Draft, in the fence series im doing..Def not finished but a good start I think.

This is my newest work that im trying to figure out. I need to figure out what else I want to put in it and then bring it all together..

Sometimes you look out the window and think its so pretty out, big white fluffy clouds, green green grass and trees. It invites you to step outside. Then you open the door. And the realize the joke is on you and its HOT!
But today it wasnt horrible, the sun is wzrm but its tolerable out. So Charlie and I did a short drive just to get out for a bit.

I was starting to wonder if these would ever bloom…

This is my 2nd attempt, so itsdef a work in progress. Still need to figure out my shading. But I will get there..But as long as it looks like a boat I will be happy..

In this one, I made a few changes…

The last few months have been crazy to say the least. As a photographer I am constantly on the fence these days about do you or dont you go out. If you do is someone in authority going to send you home or if you go out is that the day you become unlucky.
So for the last few months I have not been out to do anything unless I had to go out. My creative side needed an outlet tho. I have always loved drawing and im constantly doodling on whatever is handy. I like using pencil and hopefully at some point move on to paints, maybe lol
But Until I get back out into the world with gear in hand I have been trying to get better at my drawings. Sometimes i fail miserably, atleast in my eyes, at the look im trying to acheive but thats ok. Nothing happens overnight, i just keep plugging along.
Here is a sample of something I did this morning.. its not even close to perfect I am liking it..
Clark Tower built in 1926 is located in Winteset Iowa its made of Limestone and stands 25 feet tall. It was built as a memorial to one of the counties first pioneer families.
You can climb the stone stairs to the second floor or climb the steep stairs to the top to see a view of the valley. But the trees sometimes make that impossible. The stairs to the top are steep and you have to be careful but it’s worth it as it the drive.
The road is one way and rather bumpy at times and you wonder if your vehicle will make it around some turns but it’s a great drive on a fall day.
There’s also the option of taking the mile walk (one way) from the park to the tower. As theres trails that would be worth the walk.
Cedar Bridge is one of the “famous” Bridges of Madison County. Its one of 19 Bridges that were built in Madison County but only a handful are left standing today.
You can read about it here at the following website. http://cedarcoveredbridge.com/
In 2017 the Bridge was destroyed by Arson but was rebuilt.

My cats must feel like they are always being tortured when I take their picture. I cant catch them doing the cute stuff but their other favorite past time, sleeping, I can…

I came across these starlings by chance as I was out driving around. It’s fascinating how they form their patterns and when one moves they all move. I guess these flocks are called murmurations and it’s done mostly out of defense, whether there’s a hawk near by or another larger bird.. This was a rather small group that I came across as normally I just see them flying overhead by the thousands. These seemed more interested in eating, as when they landed they were constantly picking at the ground.
From what I read, there’s not one single bird in charge, flocks coordinate their movements with the seven nearest to them, how researchers figure that out who knows, but it’s still fascinating and cool to watch.
Good thing I never watched the movie The Birds….
Was a lovely morning, if not a bit to windy, to visit the park. I thought things were going ok for the most part. But the wind was not cooperating. Every time I went to snap a photo the wind would blow and what I was pointed at would move. So things turned out interesting. I will definetly have to go back when it’s not as windy.
I also wasn’t the only one who thought it was a good day for the park. There were families with children, walkers, fisherman etc.
My family is big into conservation and my dad does a wonderful job at doing his part, whether it’s building bat houses for bats in the timber, planting trees, setting land back into native grasses etc. The family farm is a habitat for wildlife, native grasses, wildflowers and more.
This year he set back several acres for wildflowers and boy have they become my favorite place for photos lol….So I apologize for the overload for the next few days of the colorful array of blooms and whatever else I throw in there…
A few days before Fathers Day I was down at my dads, and normally I like to take the backroads. The one that I normally take ended up being closed for some reason as I got towards the end of it and I had to find an alternative way around. Which put me on some roads I hadn’t been on in years. But sometimes things happen for a reason.
I came upon this marsh area that was actually nice. I will have to go back and see what wildlife I can see on it the next time.
Visited the Neal Smith Wildlife Refuge located outside Prarie City, Iowa…It’s definetly worth a visit, esp the visitor center which is full of displays and information.
Several walking trails also take you through the prarie with information boards and benches along the way and great views.. You can check out their website at the following.
